A fun, visual phonics activity designed to support children learning English as an Additional Language to read and write simple three letter words. It also introduces simple grid referencing. The activity supports Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 pupils in the early stages of acquiring EAL to become familiar with English sounds and the concept of word building.
The activity has a grid or table of letters to refer to with instructions for supporting staff. It has illustrated examples of words for pupils to spell using the grid - this ensures the activity is meaningful and not abstract. It also has examples of words for the children to add grid references to using the table. Once this has been done, the children can illustrate the words.
