This resource relates to the AQA specification for GCSE (UK) exams from 2018 onwards. In this 1-2 HOUR lesson pupils learn about the characteristics of desert biomes. As a starter task students, use a slideshow to brainstorm in pairs what desert biomes are like. Pupils are first taught where deserts are located and this is then linked to atmospheric circulation. A ‘market stall’ activity is then used to cover their location, climatic conditions, soils, flora and fauna.
