This worksheet packs several language-learning activities into one. First, review color and shape vocabulary by giving directions (oral and/or written on the board) about how to color the shapes. You can make all the same shapes the same color, or get more complex — up to you!
Next, have students cut along the dotted lines to make playing cards. Once these are made, you have a useful tool for review games and low-key assessments. Call out the names of shapes and/or colors and have students hold up the correct art for a warmup activity. You can also name three items and have students line up cards to match what you’ve said. Add more items for a greater challenge. If you’ve made the shapes different colors, give the full description and have them search for the right item.
For oral practice, have students be the callers. You can also pair them up to play Go Fish or Memory with these cards, so they’re great to keep around as time fillers throughout the year!
