Needing to teach children to write clearly formed cursive letters?
This resource combines teaching children about the Mary Rose with letter writing practice.
If a child cannot draw the letter patterns needed to form letters they will be unable to write legibly. This handwriting pack solves that dilemma.
They think they are learning about the Mary Rose Tudor ship by drawing letter patterns linked to artefacts found on the ship including drawing a nit comb. They are in fact… developing their cursive writing skills by drawing 8 different letter formations.
It helps children in Reception, Years 1 to 2, meeting the UK curriculum needs of Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 to develop:
• Letter formations and joins
• Establishing handwriting movement patterns
• Starting and finishing points
• The correct direction to follow
Created by myself, I use occupational therapy techniques to improve a child’s writing throughout the pack by using a developmental process.
Every page naturally progresses the skill of writing. It starts with how to sit and hold a pencil and then progresses to drawing letter groups.
The best bit is that they have no idea how much this resource is improving their handwriting as they are interested in learning more about the carpenter on board, the music played and the animals found. I use it and I know it works
You do not need to think of anything as it has been done for you!
