This lesson introduces pupils this as a new unit.
This lesson will last about 2 lessons, or the video could be set as flipped learning.
This lesson starts with a quick, what do pupils know discussion, before identifying how the exam will be laid out and some basic information about Russia is given to the pupils and can be discussed i.e. what effect would this have on the populace.
Pupils then have to work out the structure of the Romanov family from a piece of text, before watching a lovely video that gets behind the names on the page, with pupils identifying key characters, events, strengths and weaknesses.
Pupils then have a quick glance at the actual structure of Russian society, again discussing the impact and effect that this would have.
Pupils end with playing ‘just a minute’ to see how well they recall the information.
