A lesson I used to deliver Key Topic 1.1, The situation on Elizabeth’s accession, looking at how society and government were organised in 1588. Students are first asked to think about the meaning of hierarchy by applying the term to how school is organised. They are then provided with a sheet showing Elizabethan government and society, before being asked to complete a task ranking each part of government. Printable resources are provided at the end with multiple copies on each sheet to save on photocopying.
