Geography: Can the UK Ever Meet its Future Energy Needs? - 9 Lessons!

This is a contemporary unit made in 2020, that allows learners to understand the current standing and future projections of the UK’s energy sector. Looking at both the strengths and challenges of the UK’s current position, in terms of energy, the SoW looks to move students towards building conceptual understandings, such as “What does a carbon neutral Britain look like?” - A UK government commitment by 2050 - The first developed nation to do so.

L1: Why are fossil fuels finite?

L2:What is the greenhouse and enhanced greenhouse effect?

L3: What are the effects of the enhanced greenhouse effect?

L4: Why is the UK energy consumption growing?

L5: What renewable energy options are available to the UK?

L6: What are the potential opportunities available to UK energy?

L7: What are the potential threats available to UK energy?

L8: Debate: Can the UK ever meet in future energy needs?

L9: What does a sustainable carbon neutral Britain look like?
