English Civil War - 1. Parliament

Lesson 1 of 12 that links to the English Civil War, beginning with the role of Parliament and the religious context and ending with the execution of King Charles I.

This lesson examines the role of Parliament in the 17th century.

Students will look in detail at:

  • keywords that will arise when studying the English Civil War
  • the role of parliament throughout British history

This is part of a series of lessons that aims to encompass the new 9-1 GCSE skills into Key Stage 3.

Lessons are colourful and engaging and match the content of the new Exploring History textbook from Pearson, although the textbook is not necessary for any of the tasks.
