This fifty slide powerpoint explores the double meaning of the title and all the other language features in the poem. The lesson starts off by watching the 2014 Sainsbury’s Christmas advert and asks students if this is a realistic depiction of World War One. There is historical context and lots of example analysis to get your students analysing how Owen uses personification in the poem. Additional resources included in the folder are copies of the poems; a cloze exercise copy of the poem; a storyboard and a WAGOLL. Used in conjunction with the lesson on “Dulce Et Decorum Est” and the background lesson on Wilfred Owen, students will certainly not forget the sacrifice of the the people of World War One.
