Understanding figurative language is an important part of being a successful social communicator.
Without an understanding of figurative language, our students often interpret literal meaning from the message; becoming lost in the conversation.
This is a resource that I like to use as a pre-test and a post-test during my figurative language unit. It is an easy way to measure student growth.
Simply provide your student with a copy of the figurative language informal assessment and instruct them to use context clues to define the bolded phrases in the sentences.
Divide the number of correct responses by 15 and multiple by 100 to get your percent of accuracy.
