finding percentages of amounts for weak ability

I used this as a way of getting my weakest class to practice 1%, 10%, 25% and 50%. Spent one lesson looking at what a percentage is and how to divide and multiply by by 10 and 100 etc. this has a few problems also. they are very simple and can be made more difficult by changing these.

A quiz that can be used at any time of the year, but created for World Book Day 2015. The quiz can be used in lessons and completed individually or in teams, in form time, wholeschool or across year groups ... any variation will work. It contains questions that will appeal to all year groups and not exclusively just to pupils who read.

The pack contains a Powerpoint (and PDF version) file called 'Book Quiz WBD 2015' that can be used by the teacher to guide a class through the quiz. There is a file called 'Quiz answer Sheet Student' for pupils to complete and one called 'Quiz Answer Sheet Teacher' which has all of the correct answers added. These are uploaded as Word and PDF files. A file called 'Image Credits' has the full credits for all the Creative Commons images used.
Direct speech, punctuate direct speech correctly, extend reporting clauses, fun dice game
How many times have you taught your class about the rules for setting out direct speech? Worksheets are not the answer!

How about trying a playful approach? Working in pairs children roll dice, create sentences and score them. They have to look closely at punctuation and think carefully about reporting clauses to be successful at the game.

This game can also move more able writers on because players often need to add further chunks (or phrases and clauses) onto the end of the direct speech sentence. If they apply this skill in their writing, it can add depth.

I have also added a more advanced version of the game, teaching children to interrupt direct speech by dropping the reporting clause into the middle of the sentence.

As with all of my resources, everything is included (teacher/child friendly explanation of key concepts, score cards, rules, dice guides) apart from the dice and the paper!

Transformations booklets (36 pages)
Four booklets over 36 pages covering transformations (excluding negative and fractional scale factors). A second copy of these booklets containing answers is also included. The booklets cover doing and describing, of course, and they really allow learners to build their skills from a very basic level. All work can be completed in the booklets.

GCSE Foundation Maths Complete Revision AQA Edexcel
A GCSE Foundation Maths PowerPoint presentation I created from some revision worksheets I use. It contains slides on how to answer all the types of questions that may come up in the foundation exam. It was created with AQA and Edexcel (foundation) in mind, but may be suitable for other exam boards too.

Additionally, could be good revision for Higher GCSE students too. I use it with my high KS3 Students as they are more than capable understanding the material.

I have split it up into four areas: Number, Algebra, Data/statistics, and Shape/Space/Measures.
All funds raised by the sale of this resource will be donated to the NSPCC.
Mathematics of Measures I Units and Lengths L4+
A couple of lessons introducing metric and imperial measures and their symbols. It then moves onto estimating and measuring lengths, before finishing with conversions between different measures of length (L5).

Borrow fromthe scientists a set of 1m rulers to add a kinesthetic aspect to the measuring. You may even set a minicompetition for most accurate estimates.
