This First World War themed literacy lesson is designed for Year 6 or 7 pupils and involves them writing a persuasive argument against continuing WWI.
It includes a learning objective, differentiated success criteria, suggestions of arguments to use and a model to model write on the board with explanation of what to ‘think aloud’ while writing and which bits the children can help suggest ideas for.
It also includes a word bank of persuasive connectives and rhetorical question starters, a writing frame for lower ability pupils and a plenary.
I have not been observed teaching this particular lesson, but I have received an outstanding grade for all recent observations from my head teacher and more senior outside observers.
