A Classroom activity that can be done with the pupils in groups or individually. The pupils are given a story of a walk through a piece of countryside.
Various organisms like Dandelions, Rabbits, Buzzards and Foxes are mentioned.

The pupils have to identify the PRODUCERS, the PRIMARY CONSUMERS and the SECONDARY CONSUMERS. They record the organisms in a table.

Using the table they can now draw as many FOOD CHAINS as they can find.

This lends itself to a discussion about whether some organisms are eaten by more than one consumer. This is a good introduction to FOOD WEBS.
The final activity would be to create a FOOD WEB for the woodland.

Ideal activity for any Year group from Y7 to Y11
Used as part of a Feeding Relationships topic.
