Thanks for your review. The guide is to help students get grade 9, and therefore is intended to be rich in information they can read independently. That's why it isn't a PowerPoint - I agree that would be a useful resource for me to create.<br /> I think the theme of time is taught in a woolly way - Priestley had a theory of time repeating itself. Ok, but how to do we relate that to his dramatic purpose in the play? Only by looking at how he symbolises the first and second world wars through the deaths of the two Eva's and through setting the play against historical events which the audience, through dramatic irony, can see will arise as a consequence of the upper classes' choices and prejudices. Consequently, I cover the conrete examples really well. <br /> <br /> I will take a look at the idea of simply adding sections with themes as headings, rather than having each theme exemplified in the treatment of each character. My experience is that students will be asked about a character, and need the skill to relate this to the themes and Prietley's purpose - that's why the notes are structured around each character.<br /> <br /> Thanks for your comment though, it has made me re-evaluate.
