In her artist-quotes Gabriele Munter wrote about her landscape-painting in and around the German village Murnau (near Munich). She described her years together with Kandinsky till 1914, and with the other artists in ‘Der Blaue Reiter’ (Blue Rider) group: Jawlensky, Werefkin, Franz Marc and Paul Klee.

Gabriele Münter frequently painted in open air with her love Kandinsky and other German artists between 1908 - 1914.
She described her daily life in Murnau, painting side by side landscapes in open air - in the lower mountain area near Munich, Germany. She also describes how after 1914 (Kandinsky left her, because of World War 1.) she continued painting the landscape - first with the palette knife and then the brushes - learned from Kandinsky!
