GCSE History, The significance of Gorbachev and Reagan's changing attitudes
GCSE History 2016, Superpower Relations and the Cold War, 1941-91. Lesson begins with a keywords and chronology test. Students then take on the role of either the CIA or KGB and read an imaginary intercept of Gorbachev and Reagan speaking about their ideas. Students then answer success criteria questions to learn about the significance of Gorbachev and Reagan's ideas. There is also an example importance question and exemplar answer for students to discuss. The lesson finishes with a quick quiz about the ideas of Gorbachev and Reagan. Useful for the new GCSE History 2016 course, Superpower Relations and the Cold War 1941-91. This lesson would work well as part of unit 3: The end of the Cold War, 1970-91.
