Generative Vocabulary
Generative Vocabulary is a strategy to increase student word knowledge, grades 9-12 - adult. Its basic premise is that with a few Latin and Greek roots, along with knowledge of prefixes and suffixes that students can generate a vast storehouse of word meanings, even of words they perhaps had not seen before. Generative vocabulary also addresses graphic imagery, storytelling, and personal associations for vocabulary memory.
