1_Question Sheet
2_Answer Sheet for teacher
3_Follow up work sheet

These are easy to use and comprehensive resources to go with the documentary A Plastic Ocean (2016). About 3 lessons worth, or a substantial homework.

Could be used for:

  • KS2 or KS3 Geography project work
  • GCSE Geography Coasts
  • A Level Geography Coasts and Oceans
  • DT or Art project work (1 hour 29 minutes specifically)
  • Solution based learning
  • Form time
  • PSHE / morals and ethics
  • End of term (let’s face it)
  • Cover work

The worksheet is a focus whilst watching the documentary, then the follow up sheet can be used for students to engage with it in more detail, emotionally, ethically and practically.

The film is 1 hour 42mins and suitable for Key Stages 2, 3, 4 and 5 (the level of detail picked up by the children will just vary).

The focus is around how plastic breaks up not down and contaminates the food we eat as well as our environment. It is matter of fact, not too sensationalistic. It also discusses packaging and BPA concepts in terms of what impact it has on our bodies. It has a positive ending so worth hanging in there.

There is 1 swear word (s***) used at 13 minutes 45 seconds in, so you can skip that if needs be, but in the context it isn’t used very offensively.
