Geography lessons and tasks overview

This spreadsheet is the result of countless hours of work in breaking down the National Curriculum, AQA GCSE and AQA A-Level specifications for Geography and dividing up into sub-groups / topics, lessons and specific tasks. In short it is a full scheme of work for a Geography department from 11-18 for the entire year. As I am leaving the profession, I feel the hard work that I put into this document should be shared.

The spreadsheet and units on each of the tabs correspond to the booklets I have also made which compliment this departmental scheme of work.

I can assure you that every aspect of each unit at GCSE and A-Level have been covered and many of the tasks (which are framed as exam type questions) actually appeared in examinations in 2018 and 2019 in the new syllabus.

Our school uses ‘Challenge’, ‘Big Challenge’, and ‘Super Challenge’ to identify different levels of challenge and these are represented as : C, BC and SC on the spreadsheet. Downloading the corresponding booklets will bascally mean that your department has pretty much all the resources they need. The only GCSE booklet not complete is the Economic World one but all the tasks are set out in the spreadsheet.

The organisation of our departmental scheme of work (this resource), along with the booklets have been acknowledged as excellent practice by SLT and during an Ofsted inspection in 2018.

As mentioned, the creation of this overview spreadsheet took me a very long time yet can be easily changed to meet the needs of your school / department. All booklets I have created have a similar structure and wide range of tasks and are very reasonably priced. The GCSE ones and some tasks in the KS3 booklets go well with the Pocket Posters Revision Guides and we bought every GCSE student one of these as well as class sets to enable them to develop independent learning habits.
