Motivate students to learn and write with a humourous, lesser-known Grimms fairy tale with colourful slides and parallel English text. This lesson meets requirements for Key Stage 3 writing and grammar, but is adaptable to other levels. First focus on reading and guessing meaning from context, then use the story’s sentences as templates to consolidate use of sentence structure & some grammar items. Students are motivated by the humour and the opportunity to be creative. The lesson can be divided into 2 45-minute sessions or used in part as desired.
