Introduction to how grids are organised and how we refer to areas on the map, using correct language. A example version of Forres in Moray has been used, as well as a blank version to be freely edited. LI:I am learning about maps and how to describe areas on a map. I am learning what a grid reference is. I can work with a partner to find labelled areas on a map. I can understand and write down grid references. Travelling world sheet is a game used to enhance or consolidate learning (to be drawn by children or freely edited). *Image from GoogleMaps. Fonts freely downloaded from

Thanks this is a good resource that saved me time. I found the blank grid particularly useful to use with a local map. Just one thing though - the numbering should start from the bottom, not the top.

I think this is excellent. Not only can you use it for grid referencing, but the maps could also be used for scale work!!
