A GCSE lesson on the growth of urbanisation worldwide. The lesson explores how and why urbanisation has increased in different parts of the world since 1980. Key facts about the lesson are:

1. The lesson meets the requirements of the new GCSE specifications. However, it can be adapted for a top set year 9 group and even an AS group.

2. The lesson is planned in detail and all the resources for teaching the lesson are included in the ppt; starter, differentiated learning activities with resources, clear outline of learning tasks and a plenary. Just download and teach!

3. The lesson starts by defining urbanisation and proceeds to analyse statistics about changing rates of urbanisation worldwide. The lesson then moves on to look at reasons for different rates of urbanisation between LICs, MICs and HICs. Finally there is a past paper question to check students learning before the plenary.

4. The lesson includes key numeracy and graphicacy skills - there are activities for drawing bar charts and using proportions. These are both key elements of all the new GCSE specifications.

5. There are also challenge activities throughout the lesson to stretch students learning.
