I have used this helping hands classroom jobs system in my Year 6 classroom to encourage the pupils to take on responsibility and build more independence.

Laminate the display poster and display names to ensure children know their jobs. I use wooden pegs with each child’s name on so that I can change the jobs easily each week.

The job descriptions mean that each child has clear instructions on what is expected when completing each job.

There should be enough jobs so that each child has a role to play, although this can be easily edited depending on class size or needs.

A great way to start a new academic year and promote more responsibility and independence!
