The children really enjoyed predicting whether hot, warm or cold water would dissolve the hot chocolate powder the quickest. We had guesses of all three for different reasons.

We timed how long it took to dissolve and found out that hot water worked best because it has more energy and the molecules move faster. We watched a magic school bus episode about molecules and did one more experiment to visually show us how the molecules move faster in hot water.

We also enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows :)

Their independent maths task this week tied in really well. They used tweezers to put certain numbers of marshmallows onto their laminated numbered hot chocolate counting sheets. The hot chocolate counting sheets can be found here:
