This is a whopping 95 page word doc. containing all 30 of my grammar games. This represents a fair few evenings and weekends (I know - get a life!). All of these games have been tested in class and adjusted if needed - they have a real impact on learning.<br />
For each grammar skill there is:<br />

Help more able students develop their powers of description with this exercise; although it uses colour to create mood and atmosphere, the technique can be transferred to sustaining metaphors or similes, skills top marks are made of. The PP begins with a hyperlink[click on 'colours'] to a song, Donovan’s ‘Colours’ [you may want to move to slide 2 on the musical interlude, as by then the link between colours and mood has been made] and takes students through the steps of choosing a colour while also making useful notes on the technique by looking at quotes and extracts. In the end, their task is to describe something, weaving colour imagery and mood words through the description. This could be set as a homework – or a next lesson. Linking this task to the opening lines descriptive writing task as a follow up lesson works well.
These are the resources and materials I have used and created when teaching Language and Power at AS level following AQA Specification B.<br />
I began by looking at Spoken Language and how this is different from written, then this nicely 'flows' into discussion of power (through political speeches etc.).<br />

Resource containing a complete GCSE scheme of work for Original Writing - Diary entry. Students will complete a diary entry response to literature and texts from World War 1. These include Wilfred Owen's Dulce et decorum est and a series of fictional and non fiction letters from the front.
Children loved making pizzas at our Italian pizza class. Resources have been exported from an Activ-primary flip-chart. (Which also includes Italian Pizzeria style music.) Fun to play when the children are making their pizzas or working. If you would like original please message me.

These ‘Library Challenge’ cards were made for my class library, but they could be used in a school library as well. The idea was just to get the children excited about reading and properly engaged with the books, and they’ve really enjoyed working through the activities – an added bonus being that I use this work to decorate the walls of our library.
