Aim of the activity Activity 1: Definitions
Adults support children in understanding and developing communication skills by using eye contact, gesture and body language. The activity is designed to encourage students to engage with the key concepts and vocabulary needed to further develop their knowledge of ‘communication’.
Teacher’s instructions Photocopy the table on to paper or card and then cut up into individual pieces. Mix up the pieces and give out to students. You may wish to make them a set each or a set between two. Remember to keep an original so that you have the answers.
Students’ task Match each word to its definition.
Extension Activity Teacher’s Instructions: The questions provided can be directed to a group in order to evoke discussion, students could be presented with them to discuss in pairs or they could be given as a written reflection task. Example answers are provided.
