Activity designed for use as a starter or plenary activity in an English or a library research lesson. In the first half of the presentation the students are presented with 8 idiomatic or slang terms from previous stages in history (Elizabethan, World War 1, Victorian etc) and are asked to suggest the correct modern term for these words or phrases. There are 8 sets of this challenge. This can be used to springboard discussion on the nature of language. There are also 8 monochromatic slides which may be used to facilitate a cover lesson or homework. The whole presentation contains 27 slides and hyperlinks for ease of navigation are embedded throughout.
