These are the first three lessons of a 7 week scheme which aims to introduce poetry analysis to KS3 students. If you like these lessons, I am selling the whole scheme of work so please have a look at other resources available in my shop.

Contents:
In the first lesson students will read the poem 'Introduction to Poetry' by Billy Collins and learn basic analytical skills. In the second lesson, students will be introduced to 'Horse Whisperer' and discuss both meaning and context. In the third lesson, students will begin to annotate and analyse language, form and structure.

All lessons include various differentiation techniques and all the resources needed to teach it immediately.

This scheme is based on the NEW AQA Literature specification and has constant reference to the new mark scheme criteria and objectives. It uses the Character and Voice poems from Moon on the Tide so KS3 students can be familiarised with poetry without covering the set poems they need in KS4.
