I use ‘Where’s Wally?’ or ‘Ou est Charlie?’ to introduce prepositions linked to places in town, normally with a Y8 class. This builds up to pupils being able to say/write sentences like ‘Le cinema est en face de la gare’.

Slides contain:

  • A code-cracking stater activity
  • Introduction of prepositions with images so pupils can guess meanings
  • explanation od du/de la/de l’
  • Maps with places in town and Charlie on so pupils can describe where he is and try to get partner to put him in the right place on the map
  • A speaking activity where partners race to say/write the correct phrase fastest
