A task designed to be given to small groups of 2/3 students. In their groups, students must use the given information to plan their practical, carry it out safely and write it up using the grade ladder success criteria given to them. Relative student contributions can be assessed by assigning each student a different color felt pen. Students enjoy writing it up as a poster.
In this video presentation from JJ the Tutor we look at how
unpolarized light with intensity is incident on two polarizing filters. The axis of the first filter makes an angle of = 60 with the vertical, and the axis of the second filter is horizontal.
This is for a 100 minute lesson, but there are two tasks which could be split over two 50 min lessons.
