This package contains a powerpoint presentation on the case; a 20 point multiple choice quiz with answer key; and a complete set of FLASHCARDS for review and/or exam and/or classroom discussion..

The main product is a complete legal presentation about the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby which led to arrest, trial, conviction and execution of Bruno Hauptmann. It covers all evidence used against him, the FBI's involvement in the case and its growth as a result of this case. It is both fully visual and textual. It includes the following information:

Charles Lindbergh, Jr., the 20 month old son of aviator Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh, was abducted from his home in New Jersey in 1932. The kidnapper had propped a ladder against the house and gone into the baby’s room through a partially open window.

The Lindbergh baby’s body was found while the ransom negotiator was up to his 13th note with the kidnapper making arrangements to get the baby back.

It was at this point that the FBI stepped into the case with the approval of the U.S. Department of Justice. It would afford the New Jersey State Police, the assistance and cooperation of the FBI in bringing about the apprehension of the parties responsible for the kidnapping. In short, it was taking over.

It was with this case that J. Edgar Hoover gained a firm, permanent position for his FBI. With this case, he got kidnapping turned into a federal crime which his Bureau would get the jurisdiction of in the future. Once the FBI was on the case, it focused heavily on the kidnapper’s spending the ransom in gold certificates.
