Literacy Games 1

These are a selection of games to teach various aspects of writing, particularly sentence structure, sentence openers, connectives, ambitious vocabulary and spelling. Guess Who - based on the board game. However, instead of just having pictures of characters, these have a sentence as well and you ask yes/no questions, such as ‘is there an embedded clause?’ to find your opponents card. There are two versions, The Simpsons for sentence structure and Harry Potter for speech structure. Spelliarmus - A game very loosely based on Harry Potter to practise spellings in a variety of ways. Essentially you duel with a partner to spell words or find them in a dictionary the quickest. Topics also inlcuded are: sentence structure and punctuation.
