Considering Your Living Arrangements

This is lesson 2 of Your Journey of Life, made for Key Stage 5 students.

Using the video lesson and worksheet, students investigate the price of different housing options such as houses, flats, bedsits etc. in the areas they wish to live in when older.

Students also investigate the costs of utilities and council tax to see what they can afford, which is then deducted from their take home pay.

Your Journey of Life

Your Journey of Life is a bank of 40+ video lead sixth form PSHE lessons, each with its own corresponding worksheet.

The lessons cover the whole of sixth form PSHE, touching on topics like body image, health and wellbeing, and sex and relationships, but delivers this information in a new fun and engaging way by getting students to think about their own futures.

Students begin by researching job roles and their starting salaries, then they’ll look at their costs of living and whether their income will be enough to support the lifestyle they want.

Additional challenges are thrown in throughout the journey, such as what to do if the boiler breaks, can they afford to get it fixed or do they need to look into a credit card or loan?

Really good idea, no time needed for lesson planning, just print the worksheets and you’re good to go.
