Literacy and Maths Activities Key Skills Year 1

Basics sentences writing and mental maths number bonds within 20 printable activities BUNDLE. Ideal for back to school revision and for use throughout the year, these KS1 resources help pupils master key skills. They will suit some children as they start back to school in Year 1, while others might benefit from them later in the year, during Reception or perhaps in Year 2. If used with individuals with ASN / SEN, they might suit in Year 3 or beyond. They can be used as main lesson activities, starters, warm ups, revision, early finisher activities etc.

**SELF-CHECK ADD AND SUBTRACT TO 20 WIPE AND WRITE TRAILS AND BINGO **
36 Trails for pupils to complete with a whiteboard pen once laminated. They can also be used as unlaminated worksheets if required or placed inside dry-wipe sleeves. Pupils keep a running total as they work their way around the calculations in a spiral, until they reach the answer in the centre and are able to see if they have gone wrong. There is also a bingo / lotto game for adding and subtracting to 20.

JUMBLED SENTENCES
A full class set of 30 different reusable sentence building boards, featuring sentences with 4-5 words. Emergent writers love lifting the words off to unscramble them to find the hidden simple sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, this word sequencing resource suits a range of learning styles. Pupils rearrange their words into the correct order on the board before writing the sentence out themselves on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. They could then copy the sentence into their jotter if required. Regular practice of making sentences in this way should help pupils begin to form sentences independently. A pack featuring longer sentences is also available in my TES store by clicking on this link.

Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help children identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop to pick up and place at the end of their sentence. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and about the fact that a sentence must make sense on its own.
