Adding and Subtracting, paritioning eight, nine and ten (three days).

Children revise recording the related subtraction facts for pairs to 10 and 8. They use the idea of equality and the image of the number balance to help them to write number sentences such as 7 + 3 = 6 + 4. Nine is partitioned into pairs of numbers using the familiar image of the coat hanger and pegs, and children write the related addition and subtraction facts. Children act out simple number stories, use number facts to find the answer, and then record the associated addition or subtraction. They create their own simple number stories using a writing frame.

Excellent planning. Good use of resources (number balances, coat pegs) to help children learn number facts. Lovely game based on frogs on a log to make number stories.
