This checklist is to accompany a double lesson based on creating their own Coat of Arms. Depending on ability, can be a paired or single exercise. Medieval alphabet (A5) also a good accompaniment (some letters are missing - can challenge G&T to come up with their own.) It accompanies the PP also added - which can be adapted based on the source of information. The slides which depict specific Coats of Arms should be changed - this is useful to relate to pupils. This PP relates to the Folens textbook 1066-1485. Finishing of the activity would be presentation to the class.

As a British Literature teacher, I like to teach about the history of heraldry when I start my unit on the Middle Ages which includes reading Chaucer and Malory. Part of my Middle Ages unit and Renaissance unit involves my students creating banners and shields as well as participating in Chivalry Week. These handout, activity, and ppt are great resources that for me will only need minor tweaking (pg. numbers). Thanks!

This could work without the textbook but will need some editing.
