This humorous letter for Upper KS2 is written from an anonymous person who claims to know you. The children are then given some advice about effort, attitude and behaviour in an attempt to help them have a fantastic year of learning. The whole letter is written as though you don’t know about it.

Hello,
Yes, that person standing right in front of you now is your new teacher. Huh, can you believe it? Now sit up straight and try to create a good impression (yes I know it’s difficult) and whatever you do – don’t stare. I know it’s tempting, but just don’t do it. Oh… and remember to smile – but not too much ‘cause that’s just scary! It makes you look like you’ve done something that you shouldn’t have.

I would put these letters in envelopes and give them to the children when they first enter the class.

The children could write a reply to the letter - either straight away or at the end of the academic year.

ALSO INCLUDES FREE READING PROJECT. THIS 8 PAGE PROJECT ENCOURAGES THE CHILDREN TO FIND A GOOD BOOK IN A FUNNY AND ENGAGING WAY. THE CHILDREN HAVE TO SPEAK TO ADULTS ABOUT THE BOOKS THEY READ WHEN THEY WERE YOUNGER AND PREPARE A SPEECH/PRESENTATION ABOUT THE BOOK THEY FOUND. ADVICE IS GIVEN ALONG THE WAY. THIS PROJECT WOULD BE PERFECT TO GIVE TO YOUR NEW CLASS OVER THE SUMMER HOLIDAY.
