Minion surface area and volume
Used with a very able Year 8 set, but would be appropriate for top set Year 9's and probably for GCSE also. A fun investigation to bring together knowledge of volume and surface area for cylinders and cuboids by estimating the volume and surface area of a minion! Extended thinking questions also given. As a plenary I asked my class to produce posters to explain their calculations, and as a starter to think of the types of shapes they could use to &'construct&'; a minion.
