My Healthy Happy Life Activity Journal Level One is a sixty-page PDF practical guide, recommended for pupils in Year 3. The journal develops pupils mental, emotional and physical health and wellbeing by using a variety of teaching and learning activities. These help pupils learn, reflect and develop lifelong positive habits supporting them to live healthier, happier lives. They are also a safe place for pupils to explore their thoughts and feelings and helps them understand where and how to find help and support if needed.

How to Use
The complete journal or individual pages can be printed to suit your schools need. It can be used with a whole class to help support the delivery of the health section of the RSHE curriculum or with small groups of children that require extra support developing healthy habits.

Chapter One – My Brain and Mind
Inside this chapter in level one pupils will discover how to keep a healthier, happier mind. With a strong focus on the understanding of how feelings work and basic strategies to help them deal with strong feelings. Pupils will start to learn how to recognise how their bodies feel when they are worried and what they can do to help themselves.

Chapter Two – My Nutrition
In chapter two pupils learn the fundamentals of healthy eating habits and introduces the importance of how food affects their bodies, energy levels and brain health.

Chapter Three – My Lifestyle
Chapter three teaches pupils about healthy lifelong habits, including what habits are, why we need sleep and ideas on what to do if they are having troubles sleeping. This chapter also looks at the importance of spending time outside and introduces the concept of being a part of a community.

Chapter Four – My Safety
Inside My Safety chapter, pupils will discover ways to keep them safe and help prevent ill health. Pupils learn to use words to describe how their bodies might feel when they are unwell, when and who to ask for help, and personal hygiene.

Chapter Five – My Movement
In chapter five pupils will learn the importance of daily movement and exercise and how they might feel if they do not move their bodies enough. Pupils will learn that there are different types of fitness and fun ways to explore and challenge themselves.
