This latest bundle of resources are companion pieces to the previously released My name is Tom – Your School Production and E-Safety and new media: The problem that keeps on giving.
Once again the materials are for KS 2, 3 and 4, as well as being useful for School Staff, Parent and Community groups and will hopefully compliment the excellent work you are already doing and is offered at the introductory price of £7.99
Not all activities will be suitable for your class and used at your discretion.
Items can be posted on your white board to save on printing.
A/B. QUESTIONNAIRES: These are anonymous to encourage participants to be as open as possible. Getting young people to reflect, while providing feedback for your school, which will lead to a growing dialogue within your school /
Community. There is also a questionnaire for adults / parents to offer the opportunity to reflect on your knowledge of your own family and how much you do and don’t understand?
C. FIND THE STORY: Using the scenes from My name is Tom, participants have to put the story in the right order. An answer sheet is provided and can be done either as an individual or in small groups. Creating more opportunities for discussion around the issues.
D. CREATE YOUR OWN PLAY: Using production photos from My name is Tom, participants can create their own narrative, including an opening and final scene. Answer sheet provided.
E/F. BOYS and GIRLS TALKING: Part of the project involved working in single sex schools, and we recorded their responses. Here teenagers talk about their concerns in draft anonymous questionnaires and could be used in conjunction
with your student’s questionnaires.
G. DON’T KNOW THEY’RE BORN: This activity was prompted by parents who felt young people don’t realise, they had “been there, bought the t-shirt and eaten the pizza”. Here participants have to decide when a range of experiences are from: everything from sex, gangs, drugs and parties.
H. DISCUSSIONS: Using key moments from the play, we pose questions about characters, attitudes and issues, to get young people to reflect on their attitudes and behaviours. A synopsis is also provided.
