In Negotiate Your Salary, students learn what to do before they sit down with their supervisor to ask for a raise. This includes steps to help them gather facts, organize their thoughts and information, and decide whether this is the right time to ask for a raise.

Duration: 45-90 minutes

Negotiate Your Salary is suitable for:

  • Post-16

Students use Docs, Gmail, Search, and Sheets.

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Organize information about their job and skills in a document.
  • Search the internet for information about their job, region, and pay rate.
  • Organize information in a table about how their qualifications match employer priorities.
  • Write a script they can use to talk to their manager about a pay raise.

The resource is video-based and features FREE, ready-to-use lesson plans, rubrics to enable teachers to evaluate a student’s work across a variety of skills and levels of proficiency (i.e. beginner, developing, accomplished, and exemplary) and a dashboard to show how each student is progressing.
