This activity resource pack will enable learners to think about different nuts, botanical and culinary definitions, the large choice of culinary uses and much more.
Resources include a 9-page workbook, 28 fact and task cards with related worksheets and answer key, 48 picture and word cards for a variety of activities, a 45-slide PowerPoint Presentation featuring the contents of all cards, and finally a document with suggestions for use and differentiation.
Activities include identifying nuts and recognising them at 2 different stages of maturity, e.g. shells and trees…; reading through and applying definitions for botanical definitions; thinking about and discussing the various uses of nuts, especially in culinary terms; identifying foods and drinks which use nuts as ingredients; an internet research task which encourages students to think outside the box by looking at uses, issues and dangers surrounding nuts in a culinary and environmental context.
