Lesson 5 in my Life in Nazi Germany module for OCR History B from 2016.

Students are shown an image of a book burning. Students need to identify what they think is happening. Students are then shown image representations of the different methods the Nazis used to try and co-ordinate the German people. They have to guess the methods. Students then plot and explain their views on an opinion line of how successful they think the Nazis will be in coordinating the German people. Students then work in mixed ability groups to create a poster about the different methods of coordination using information sheets. Includes methods such as book burnings, the Civil Service Act and the opening of Dachau concentration camp. Students can then either present their posters or rotate around the classroom in a carousel. Students complete a table as they look at the posters. Explaining the method and how it would help to turn the German people in to Nazis. Students revisit the opinion line periodically throughout the lesson. Lesson concludes with students explaining how the Nazis attempted to control society. A writing frame is also included for this task.
