A fully inclusive, accessible and flexible resource to facilitate a whole class or ensemble performance of the minimalist piece ‘Riley in C’, accommodating all abilities (including those with no notation skills) and parts for different clefs and transposing instruments.

Parts are in six ability levels and can be used in any combination, including a very attractive resource for pupils with no notational skills. There is also the option of parts with or without note names up to Level 3. This resource is effective with the weakest of groups and is also able to challenge the most advanced musician.

There are teaching notes that come with this resource together with 42 parts in separate files to enable you to tailor your teaching to your pupils.

It is a proven resource that is an excellent and effective approach to understanding the minimalist style, specifically the technique of looping and the concept of cells for both KS3 and KS4.

It also develops skills needed for ensemble performing and interpretation in an accessible way, giving pupils independence over their parts and the opportunity to determine the journey and shape of the performance.

It’s also an effective resource for a performance (or warm-up) with a mixed ensemble.

No two performances are ever the same! As such, this resource is a formula that works every time for any combination of students.

Wishing you great success with this resource jam packed with differentiation.
