This lesson begins with opportunities to discuss as a class how you would add/subtract 10, 100 and 1000 from a number without using the formal written method. It then has differentiated practice questions and the answers for your class to complete on their whiteboards. One penultimate slide can be printed off as a worksheet and has 3 levels (Blue for LA, Orange for MA and red for HA). The last slide is the answers to these questions for you to use or for you to get your class to self mark and save you some time!
While the class are working independently, I always display the third last slide that has the Learning Objective on it and two challenge questions for children to complete if they finish early and need an extra push.
