UPDATED: Includes Clipart (png file) Base 10 blocks - you can adjust the size. This resource is on place value: hundreds tens and units/ones.

It contains lots of practice on place value and partitioning- hands on practice and visual worksheets

Aimed at: KS1/2

I have included all the resources you will need but you may wish to use concrete resources such as the tens rods, unit blocks and hundred blocks to complement this resource.

**Content: **
• Digit cards 0 to 9 inclusive
• Place value grid – 100s, 10s, 1s
• Hundreds block in different colours, tens towers and units block (laminate and cut out) for various activities
• Title cards – hundreds, tens, units/ones
• 4 sets of worksheets that include cut/paste activity

  • Activity 1 (7 differentiated pages) – (cut and paste)
The student(s) works out what the number is in the place value grid and then select and cut out the correct answer and stick it onto the blank square. (Option of 3 answers)

Activity 2 (4 differentiated pages)
The student(s) deciphers the place value grid and then writes what the number is in the blank space.

Worksheet (4 differentiated pages)
The student(s) draws lines to match the number to the corresponding partitioned numbers.

  • Worksheet (3 differentiated pages)
This activity is in a grid or table format.
The student(s) writes the partitioned numbers in standard form and then write the number in words:
    300 + 40 + 2 342 three hundred and forty-two.

Suggested activity with digit cards and hundreds block, tens and ones/units resource (laminate and cut out).

Students can work in pairs or in a group.

  • Print out the 3 sets of digit cards 0-9. Shuffle each set and place the sets side by side so that the student can take a card from each pile to make a 3-digit number.

  • When the numbers are selected, s/he then asks another student to select the hundreds, tens, units blocks to partition that number and/or the student can write the value of each number on the place value grid.

All the above activities are in the Teacher’s Notes with pictures of the resources.

File Type: MS Word, PDF and PNG Clipart.
