This resource is designed for WJEC English Literature Higher GCSE Unit 1 Unseen Poetry.
It could also be used for English at A-Level as a refresher.
The 3 page resource consists of a table with three columns: Poetic Device, Definition and Example, and Effect.
There are 18 poetic devices included, including similes, metaphors, colloquial language, enjambment and rhythm. There is an emphasis on the Effect column.
The Poetic Device and Effect columns are already completed. As a qualified and experienced GCSE tutor and examiner, I wrote this resource myself.
Students are to complete the Definition and Example column.
Students should be able to then apply these poetic devices and effects to unseen poetry.
This resource has always proven popular with my students and their revision for this challenging exam.
