2 different tasks to practice directional language including left, right, above, below, in front and behind. Each task has a “reader” and a “symbol supported” version to allow wider access to the task. Pictures are Symwriter symbols.

In the first task students match up the word with the picture showing the position of the red ball. In the second task students record what they can see behind them, in front of them etc.

I made this for my KS4 students with special needs but it is based on the Year 1/2 maths curriculum and would be great for any infant classroom. I used the symbol supported option first for all students to reinforce the vocabulary. Some students then went on to complete the one with just words.
