My year 10 class watched the powerpoint fishes and flame trees and jotted down clues to the geographical context + any questions they had. We discussed their ideas. They watched it again while I read the poem. I had laminated 'praise song docx' and each group had a different metaphor to begin with. They discussed their metaphor and individually completed a line of 'grid for praise song docx'. After 10 minutes, they passed their metaphor on to the next group and tackled a new one. There were 7 metaphors to analyse and each time I gave them slightly less time.
