this lesson was given to my top set 9th Grade french who were very keen in learning about another important aspects of grammar; it contains starter, then tutorial, it has also example of the use of the subjunctif in english language. teacher needs to explain it first until it becomes clearer to students before starting the explanation of the french subjunctif.
This is an interactive lesson I produced for my Intermediate/ Advanced students. It can be used to introduce and to recap the subjunctive. it contains a starter, then a tutorial, and five exercises to practice the various cases. There's a thorough table of regular and irregular verbs as well as a comprehensive list of structures commanding the subjunctive. Students find it very helpful to revise this tense and remember the complex structures.
This is a powerpoint I created to explain the subjunctive tense. To work with it, there is a list of essential verbs to know for higher level French in the subjunctive, and a list of prepositions followed by subjunctive.
PowerPoint and accompanying workpack designed to encourage pupils to use a variety of complex structures in their spoken and written French. I use it as a revision tool for pupils to use as part of their controlled assessment preparation. Please do let me know if you spot any mistakes.
Print out the cards and laminate them. Pupils work in pairs or small groups and race against each other to form the perfect tense with the cards after reading the infinitive and the subject from the PowerPoint. Good element of competition and really highlights how much (or little!) they actually know. Includes avoir and être verbs and agreement.
Can be easily adapted to suit your requirements too.
NEW EDITION ADDED. You need to print this in colour in order for it to work. Throw a die, land on a square and conjugate the verb in the correct tense. Get it wrong and go back three spaces. Very easy for you to edit to suit your groups.
